OUR TEAM
George Ferrie, LCSW
(They/Them)
Founder & Therapist
Hi, I’m George Ferrie, LCSW (They/Them), founder and therapist at Radiant Counseling & Wellness Collective. I believe therapy is not a luxury, but a right, something everyone deserves access to across all stages of life. At Radiant, we’re committed to creating affordable, affirming care while giving back to the community that supports us.
I feel honored by the opportunity to work with you on your journey. Over the years, I’ve worked in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, state living facilities for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences, an in-patient adult mental health hospital, and led partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for both adults and adolescents. I’ve also served as a school social worker. These experiences shaped my belief that every person carries their own wisdom, creativity, and resilience, and my role is to help you tap into those strengths to create the changes you want in your life.
I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and couples, particularly those navigating life as LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, those who are neurodiverse, or anyone facing trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, or substance use struggles. My therapeutic style is warm, affirming, and collaborative, drawing on approaches like CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, strengths-based and person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and attachment-based work.
Beyond the therapy room, I’ve spent more than 20 years deeply rooted in Denton, where I live with my husband and our two sweet dogs, Prue and Phoebe. I enjoy Yoga, outdoor adventures, and reading. I’ve also been heavily involved in nonprofits and advocacy around affordable housing, homelessness outreach, and creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ people. These commitments reflect my values: that we are all deserving of belonging, safety, and opportunities to thrive.
Whether you’re seeking support to live openly and authentically, manage mood symptoms, navigate relationships, build healthier coping skills or self-awareness, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Together, we’ll create a path toward growth, resilience, and a more authentic life.
Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic style is warm, affirming, and collaborative, ensuring we work together as a team to support your journey. I draw on a variety of evidence-based approaches to create a personalized plan that fits your unique needs and goals.
-
This style explores how your early relationships and bonds may be influencing your current patterns of connection. By understanding these roots, we can work on developing healthier relationships with yourself and others.
-
This approach focuses on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. We’ll work on identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing practical, healthy coping skills to navigate life's challenges.
-
Often used for managing intense emotions, DBT provides concrete skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It's about finding a balance between acceptance and change.
-
If you feel stuck or unsure about making a change, this collaborative approach can help. We'll explore your motivations and build a clear path forward that feels authentic and empowering to you.
-
Rather than focusing on what's "wrong," this approach highlights your existing strengths, wisdom, and resilience. I see you as the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you tap into your inner resources to create the changes you want.
-
This means I recognize and understand the widespread impact of trauma. The work we do together will be grounded in safety, trust, and empowerment, always honoring your experience and respecting your pace.
